Intensive care for cardiovascular patients

The Coronary Care Unit at Medical Center is a specialized section that treats patients with serious and potentially fatal cardiovascular diseases, such as acute myocardial infarctions and unstable angina. It has 12 beds available for treating various emergencies, with state-of-the-art technology and professionals with extensive experience and training in critical care.

It also has an Intermediate Care Unit for patients transitioning from the Coronary Care Unit to the Cardiology floor. Its rooms are single, with private bathrooms and cable TV, and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology (multiparametric monitors with central monitoring, multiprocessed respirators, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump, percutaneous pacemaker, biphasic cardio defibrillators, Hill Rom beds), meeting the highest quality standards. The unit also has 24-hour assistance from both the Hemodynamics Service and the Cardiovascular Surgery Service for any emergency procedure that may be required.
