It's in our blood

Our Transfusion Medicine Service aims to provide safe and timely transfusion therapy support with blood components to all hospitalized and outpatient patients, pregnant women, and newborns who require it. In addition, we are committed to the values of social solidarity, which is why we carry out actions to promote voluntary blood donation and organize donation campaigns at the institution.

We are responsible for managing the entire transfusion process, from evaluating the indication, performing immunohematological studies, and conducting pre-transfusion compatibility tests within the framework of good practices, following the guidelines of Blood Law 22.990 and its administrative and technical regulations, as well as performing perinatal immunohematological monitoring of pregnant patients, the therapeutic apheresis procedures that are required, and a hemovigilance program, which covers patient monitoring before, during, and after the transfusion.

It is important to note that we maintain ongoing and effective interdisciplinary communication in order to reach consensus with other departments on the appropriate use of blood components, as we provide support to all areas of Medical Center: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Neonatology, and Intensive Care.
