Since 1928, the Medical Center y Miroli Medical Center has been providing outstanding healthcare services in the city of Buenos Aires. In 2025, the Medical Center senior management Medical Center to take clinical drug and medical device research to a new level. To this end, the Clinical Research Unit was created, made up of a team of specially trained professionals and equipped with the physical and financial resources necessary for its implementation.

The main objective of the unit is to promote scientific research, creating a research site committed to customer satisfaction in terms of speed of task completion, number of patients recruited, and quality of information provided. All of this is done while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, legibility, and timely reporting of data, safeguarding the rights, safety, and well-being of patients, and in strict compliance with national and international Good Clinical Practice standards.

The role of the research unit

The Research Unit provides strategic integration of the different departments of Medical Center in the research process, along with training, organization, and financial and marketing support, to ensure that protocols are implemented in accordance with the highest ethical, legal, and scientific requirements.

Within this framework, the unit develops and maintains the design and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at ensuring uniformity, traceability, and continuous improvement of processes. All activities are carried out under strict conditions that guarantee respect for the rights of participants and the collection of valid, reliable, and auditable data.

Training of research teams

The Training Course on Good Clinical Practices and National Research Standards was held, with the participation of more than 49 professionals. It was taught by Dr. Ezequiel Klimovsky, professor of the Master's Degree in Clinical Pharmacological Research (UAI) and Executive Director of K&H LATAM Consultores S.R.L., a leading quality consulting firm in pharmacoclinical research. This training opportunity allowed for the consolidation of a highly trained team committed to scientific and ethical excellence.

Ethics Committee

The Medical Center a duly accredited Independent Research Ethics Committee, which guarantees not only the protection of patients' rights and safety, but also fluid communication with the main players in clinical research.

Facilities

• The Medical Center and Miroli Medical Center has 10 outpatient clinics dedicated to treating patients undergoing research in multiple medical specialties.

• It has more than 120 general hospital beds, as well as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 28 beds and an approximate turnover of 1,700 critical patients per year, which includes Coronary Care, Intermediate Care, and Hemodynamics units, along with neonatology, shock room, and neonatal intensive care services.

• It has an electrical backup system, oxygen, compressed air, and central vacuum, complying with current safety, fire, and environmental control standards.

• The institution complies with the provisions for the handling and final disposal of pathogenic and hazardous waste, ensuring its segregation, transport, and controlled storage.

• The central pharmacy has separate areas for institutional supply and clinical research medication management, with coded locking systems, restricted access, and equipment calibrated for storage at different temperatures.

• The Clinical Research Unit has an administrative office with a meeting room for researchers and monitors, and independent IT support with internet access.

Diagnostic services

• The Medical Center a wide range of highly complex diagnostic services, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

• The Diagnostic Imaging Service offers multislice computed tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, color Doppler ultrasound, digital mammography, bone densitometry, direct digital radiology, and a gamma camera for nuclear medicine studies.

• The Central Laboratory performs routine and specialized biochemical tests (hematology, immunology, microbiology, endocrinology, toxicology, and molecular biology) using automated equipment and internal and external quality controls.

• The Medical Center a Pathology and Cytology Service, which covers gynecological and non-gynecological cytology, biopsies, and immunohistochemistry.

• In the area of diagnostic cardiology, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and electrocardiograms are performed, with digital interpretation and electronic storage of reports.

The Medical Center y MiroliMedical Center , located in the Recoleta neighborhood (CABA), has a wide range of healthcare coverage that includes patients from the City of Buenos Aires, the Metropolitan Area (AMBA), and the interior of the country.

Thanks to its strategic location—between Córdoba and Pueyrredón avenues—and its track record since 1928, it has established itself as one of the private institutions with the highest volume of consultations and medical referrals in the region.

It receives patients referred by health insurance providers, prepaid health plans, and national insurance companies, as well as public and private institutions that do not offer highly complex services. Its healthcare network, which includes outpatient clinics, general hospitalization, maternity care, intensive care, neonatology, and diagnostic imaging, guarantees comprehensive access and continuity of medical care.

Human Resources

The Clinical Research Unit, under the direction of Dr. Gustavo Cerezo, Strategic Projects Manager, is made up of a multidisciplinary team of professionals with experience and/or specific training in clinical research.

The area has:

• Nursing, pharmacy, and laboratory staff trained in investigational medication, sample processing, and protocol procedures. • Study coordinators trained in essential documentation, eTMF, EDC, and regulatory processes.

• Administrative support for contract management and billing.

This team works closely with the Principal Investigators from the various medical areas of Medical Center, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
