Esophageal transit is an imaging study that uses X-rays to evaluate the passage of food of different consistencies through the digestive tract and thus identify any abnormalities during swallowing.
During the exam, the patient will lie down on the table, which will be in an upright position. The doctor will then instruct the patient when to eat each food and ask them to move into different positions while the images are recorded on video.
The study will then be analyzed and reported on by the diagnostic imaging specialist.
Preparation for this study will be provided when you schedule your appointment with the call center.
