We provide the following information to inform our patients and their families about the Sanatorium's policy regarding obstetric admissions.
Please remember to bring the following documentation to begin your admission. Namely:
Verify the accuracy of the information on the bracelet. Pleaserequest to have the bracelet placed on you during your stay. It will be placed on you at the admissions office. It is essential that you wear it so that you can be correctly identified while you are in the hospital. If for any reason it is removed, please request that it be replaced or notify the nursing staff.
Informed consent is a document that sets out your rights to accept or refuse a medical procedure. Please note that it must be signed by both you and your doctor. Your doctor will explain the treatment, procedure, and/or tests to be performed, as well as the risks, benefits, and alternatives, so that you can understand them. Please note that, depending on the test or treatment, you may need to sign additional informed consent forms.
You can download the general informed consent form here:
Pre-surgery recommendations may vary depending on the type of surgery to be performed and your doctor's specific instructions. However, here are some general recommendations that may help:
Quit smoking: If you smoke, try to quit at least two weeks before surgery. Smoking can affect healing and increase the risk of complications.
Do not take blood-thinning medications: If you take medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or warfarin, you may need to stop taking them before surgery. These medications can increase the risk of bleeding.
Tell your doctor about any medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and supplements. Some may interfere with anesthesia or increase the risk of complications.
Exercise and eat healthy: Maintaining good overall health before surgery can help reduce the risk of complications.
Prepare your home for your recovery: If you are recovering at home after surgery, make sure you have everything you need, such as food, medication, and medical supplies.
Talk to your doctor about your concerns: If you have questions about the surgery, don't hesitate to talk to your doctor. It's important that you feel at ease before the surgery.
On the day of your admission, please bring with you any items that are essential for your stay. Your companion will be responsible for your belongings. You may also use the safes available in the rooms.
Please note that the Sanatorium will not be held responsible for the misplacement and/or loss of your belongings.
To facilitate access to and organization of any previous and/or pre-surgical tests brought to the Sanatorium, please store them in the green bag available in each room. As these tests may be consulted by various doctors in different areas of the hospital, we kindly ask you to check periodically and before discharge that none of your tests are missing.
The test results will be provided upon discharge by the floor secretaries or nurses. You may request them after discharge by emailing: auditoriadeterreno@otamendi.com.ar
To access a copy of the medical record*, the patient, family member, and/or authorized representative who can prove their relationship must send an email to nasrac@otamendi.com.ar. Delivery will be made within 48 business hours of the request being made.*Law 25,326 on "Personal Data Protection."
If the patient must be transferred from their room to another inpatient area, their relatives must vacate the room as soon as possible, removing their personal belongings.
For patients who require transfer and/or are waiting for a family member, we request that you do so in the common areas of the Sanatorium in order to allow for the prompt delivery of the room to incoming patients. Patients who require transfer by ambulance are exempt from this rule and should wait in the corresponding room. Your cooperation is essential to avoid delays for patients waiting for a room.
It is the policy of the Sanatorium that all newborns be transported and leave the premises in a safety device (car seat /infant carrier ). This device is not provided by the Sanatorium and should only be used at the time of discharge, so it is not necessary to bring it with you before discharge.
The organization of the discharge process is very important, which is why you will be informed 24 hours in advance. The discharge time from the Sanatorium is before 9 a.m. (on the day of medical discharge). It is very important that you ask any questions you may have at this time to ensure you receive the correct care outside the Sanatorium. At the time of discharge, the doctor will give you any necessary instructions, prescriptions, or medical orders. After receiving your medical discharge, you should go to the waiting room on the first floor, where you completed the admission procedures, to finalize the discharge procedures. If possible, before leaving the room, dial *53 on the telephone. This will help us identify that the room is empty. Making the room available as soon as possible helps us prepare it for a new patient. We appreciate your cooperation.
On the ground floor (extension 5685), there is an office of the Civil Registry of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Birth certificates will be sent to the department 24 hours after the birth. Parents may visit the office from that moment on without an appointment from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (it is not necessary for the obstetric patient to visit during her hospitalization; she can wait until she is discharged). Delivery of ID card: it will be sent by mail to the address provided by the parents.
Requirements to complete the process:
Married parents: one of the two may attend with the following documentation: Marriage certificate and ID cards of both parents.
Single parents: both must attend with their corresponding ID cards.
Companion and telephone usage: if the companion decides to use the hotel service (which includes bed making, towels, personal hygiene kit, and breakfast), they must pay a fee (check with reception) per night of hospitalization; otherwise, the companion may choose to stay without using the services, in which case they will not pay any additional cost. If you do not use the companion service, please notify Hotel Supervision and/or the Admissions department. Due to hospital policy, minors are not allowed to stay as companions. The only departments authorized to provide information about coverage, costs, and hospital policies are Admissions and Billing. Any administrative information provided by departments other than those authorized will not be considered valid.
Upon admission to the Sanatorium, a deposit or voucher will be requested as a guarantee, which can be made in cash or by credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD, and AMERICAN EXPRESS). This deposit is intended to cover any extra expenses or medical supplies not covered by your prepaid health plan. If there are no uncovered expenses at the time of discharge, the deposit will be refunded. The Sanatorium also accepts debit cards and checks as payment methods.
Excessive room occupancy: half board will be charged to the patient's account until 12 noon and full board full board from 12 noon onwards.
