It is a prenatal test that combines a specific ultrasound scan with a maternal blood test. It is performed between weeks 11 and 14 of pregnancy.

  • NT ultrasound:measures the thickness of the baby's neck area (nuchal translucency). An increase in this measurement may be an indication of a risk of genetic abnormalities.
  • Blood test:evaluates two markers (PAPP-A and free beta-hCG) which, together with the mother's age and ultrasound results, allow the risk of conditions such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, or Patau syndrome to be estimated.
